Il K3b team, da poco ricreatosi all’interno della comunità KDE, ha da poco annunciato la nuova major release di K3b, uno dei software per la masterizzazione più gettonati sul pinguino.

Nome in codice “Komeback”, la nuova versione è stata oggetto di un delicato lavoro di porting per adattare il pacchetto a KDE 4. Nonostante l’impresa non sia stata ancora ultimata, gli sviluppatori si sono detti comunque soddisfatti del risultato finale. K3b 2.0 ripropone tutte le funzioni della serie 1.0.x e ne aggiunge un bel po’. La più interessante è sicuramente quella che riguarda il supporto ai dischi Blu-ray.

Migliorata anche l’interfaccia grafica e fissati oltre 250 bug segnalati durante il periodo precedente al rilascio. Segue un estratto del changelog, con tutte le principali novità. Download su questa pagina.

• “Clear project” now only clears the added data but leaves the settings as they were (bug 147838)
• Added support for files bigger than 4GB via mkisofs 2.01.01a32 and above Do only reload the medium for verification if necessary (depends on the writer)
• Support for Blu-ray writing
• Support for DVD and Blu-ray writing via cdrecord
• New audio ripping pattern %e which is replaced by the file extension
• Better support for RTL languages
